The Ellis Memorial Adult Day Health program is designed to keep elders and disabled adults living independently in the community and to prevent or delay institutionalization. This program seeks to maintain optimal levels of functioning by increasing clients’ socialization and activity levels. Our professional staff works in partnership with families, doctors, and home service providers to deliver the best care to the population we serve.
An interdisciplinary team that includes two registered nurses, a nurse’s aide, a social worker, and an activities coordinator provides care. This team works closely with caregivers to assist with medical, financial, and personal issues.
Nursing care includes administration of medications, skilled assessment, dressing changes, and coordination of medical care with doctors, visiting nurses, and community agencies.
Social services includes advocacy, counseling, consultation with community agencies and arranging transportation to the program and medical appointments
Activities include daily exercise, current event groups, sports, and mind challenging games. There are frequent special events such as theme parties, music performances, and health presentations. Field trips include outings to museums, the theatre, shopping at the mall, and restaurants. In the summer, we take trips to Carson Beach, outings on the duck tours and Charles River Cruises.
